Big Concepts for Little People

Big Concepts for Little People

Hear, hear - us moms are on the brink. Whether we are on the brink of brilliance or a breakdown is yet to be determined, but you best be prepared! As moms of young kids, let me tell you - we are working hard.

  • We work tirelessly to find some undetermined balance between our relationships, our commitments, and ourselves.

  • We listen to all of the podcasts, read all the books, make all of the lists, and schedule all the calendars in an effort to reclaim our time.

  • We consistently prioritize our littlest loves while neglecting our own passions and desires.

  • We feel simultaneously present and detached from the most important people in our lives.

Newsflash, we aren't fooling anyone. As we forge ahead with smiles on our faces in an attempt to at least appear that we have it all together while our biggest fans watch on intently - soaking in each action that we take, the words that we speak, and the beliefs that we hold. Perhaps more so than most adults, our children so clearly see our fears, notice our resistance, realize where we prioritize our time... and they are taking note.

I’m curious, can a children’s book help transform the way our children see the world?

What if a story could teach our kids to act out of kindness, build resiliency, and stay true to themselves?

Maybe bedtime stories could inspire big conversations that resonate with little minds.

Perhaps picture books could provide new tools, role models, and new perspectives that parents and children alike are craving.

I believe that children’s books have the potential to carve out new conversations - to encourage us to take risks, listen to our inner truth, and align our actions with our intentions. It’s time we live a life we want to model, not a life we believe we must martyr.

With this goal in mind, I am embarking on the unknown journey to create a series of whimsical, thought-provoking, and entertaining children’s stories reflecting on big ideas for little people. Just Be You, Lu features Lucy: a bold, inquisitive, and highly-self aware 7-year old who employs readers to question their own beliefs, consider alternative perspectives, and live from a place of inner truth, rather than external expectations. Each story tackles big concepts - limiting beliefs, societal and cultural norms, and spiritual connection - all packaged with childlike fun and curiosity to inspire a new way of living.

Follow my journey to bring Lucy to life and, if you’re up for it, contribute your thoughts to the conversation by reviewing my sample stories and letting me know what you think.
